Welcome to the first check-in for my Project Pan 2020! I have spent three months using (to varying degrees) the five products that I selected for the project. You will find my original post that outlines the rationale and products selected for this Project Pan 2020 here. At the first check-in I can say that there were two products that exceeded expectations, two products that don’t appear to have had much panning progress (even though I used them regularly), and one product which I pretty much forgot about! Read on to find out more…
Project Pan 2020: The First Check-in
Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighter in Sin.
Goal: hit pan.
Starting weight (January 2020): 48g / 1.7oz
First Check-in weight (March 2020): 48g / 1.7oz
Well colour me surprised. Despite using this almost exclusively since starting this project – I could count on one hand the number of times that I didn’t use this highlighter – there was no reduction in weight! There is a dip in the pan (bottom right hand corner) which did grow but sadly doesn’t come across strongly in the photo. I promise it is there 🙂
On track to hit pan? Yes, I am still hopeful that I’ll hit the desired pan by the end of the year.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim.
Goal: completely pan
Starting weight (January 2020): 90g / 3.2oz
First Check-in weight (March 2020): 89g / 3.15oz
This is the second of the two products which doesn’t look like there is much panning progress (the first one being the Urban Decay highlighter). However I did use the Ambient Lighting Powder frequently over the last three months. The dome isn’t as round as it was in January but this was difficult to capture on camera. It was rather gratifying that the check-in weight came back as less. Yay for progress!
On track to pan entirely? *sharp intake of breath* I’m going to say yes (while crossing my fingers).
Laura Geller Baked Balance-N-Brighten in Porcelain.
Goal: hit pan
Starting weight (January 2020): 54g / 1.9oz
First Check-in weight (March 2020: 52g / 1.85oz
I’ll hold my hands up and be honest, I kinda forgot to use this product. In fact, I kinda forgot about this product in general. Oops. So imagine my surprise at its reduced weight! There’s some motivation to use it more.
On track to hit pan? I hesitantly say ‘yes’. I suspect that this will be a product that will resist showing visible progress, so I won’t hope for even a hint of pan until much, much, much later in the year. First things first though: I need to remember that it’s both in my collection and then to actually use it!
Fenty Beauty Sun Stalk’r Instant Warmth Bronzer in Inda Sun.
Goal: completely pan
Starting weight (January 2020): 60g / 2.1oz
First Check-in (March 2020): 58g / 2.05oz
This. Is. Awesome. At the beginning of the year I had noted that the ‘FB’ embossing had disappeared and that there was a small dent in the product. Now look at it, pan has been hit – and hit big time! However, please don’t ask me why the weight only reduced by 2 grams, which is the same as the Laura Geller foundation, but the Laura Geller didn’t show pan and this bronzer did show pan. I don’t know why. Its one of the makeup mysteries.
On track? Yes, definitely. Hopefully by the end of the six month update.
Milani Eyeshadow Primer in Nude.
Goal: completely pan.
Starting weight (Janaury 2020): 23g / 0.8 oz
First Check-in weight (March 2020): 11g / 0.4 oz
Along with the bronzer, this is the other product that exceeded expectations. I’ve reduced the weight by half!
On track to pan entirely? Yep.
The next check-in will be posted at the beginning of July. I’m really hoping to hit pan in either the Urban Decay, Laura Geller, or Hourglass by then!
Are you undertaking a Project Pan? How is it going? Let me know, I’d love to hear from you!
